PITTSBURGH, Pa. (WTAJ) — The National Weather Service confirmed at least two tornadoes touched down Saturday, July 18, in Jefferson and Westmoreland counties.
The organization confirmed a tornado from social media videos that touched down in Summerville, Jefferson County. The storm continued north of Punxsutawney, where more damage occurred. A storm survey is scheduled for Sunday, July 19, to determine the official path and intensity.
Likewise, a storm in Westmoreland County led to a tornado touchdown in the area of McChesneytown-Loyalhanna. The service confirmed the tornado through social media videos, saying the storm continued into the Allegheny Mountains, where it likely dissipated.
