Crews were dispatched on Saturday about 3:45 p.m. for a house fire in the 900 block of Poplar Avenue.
Radio traffic shows that first arriving personnel found a two-story end-of-row house with a fire in a corner on the second floor.
The bulk of the fire was “knocked” shortly before 4 p.m. and the incident was placed under control at 4:11 p.m.
The Red Cross was summoned to the scene, and later added it was helping a family of four, and board-up was sought for five windows and a hole in the roof.
Sharon Hill Fire Company, station 9, added:
“Engine 9 arrived FDE to a house fire in the 900 block of Poplar Avenue in the Briarcliffe section of Darby Township. Arriving crews had smoke showing from the second floor and deployed a 200’ hand line. Crews located the fire on the second floor rear bedroom. The fire was placed under control within 30 minutes.”
