The Brandywine Community Library in Topton is celebrating the 39th birthday of its mascot, Sheldon the Greek Tortoise, on Aug. 1 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Topton Community Park. The event will include games, crafts, birthday cupcakes, face painting and prizes. It also features a Tortoise Trek Creek Race in which plastic numbered tortoises will race in the Toad Creek. Cash prizes for the first three finishers. You can sponsor a tortoise in the race and learn more at berkslibraries.org/branch/brandywine/fundraising. Sheldon’s artwork will be auctioned. All proceeds benefit the library.
Program rescheduled
The All About Bats program at Daniel Boone Homestead in Exeter Township has been rescheduled to July 31 at 7:30 p.m. Retired Albright College Professor Dr. Karen Campbell leads a presentation inside the Wayside Lodge followed by a walk to search for bats as dusk falls.
No admission is charged for this program. No pets permitted except service animals.
Anniversary celebration
Keystone Villa at Fleetwood will celebrate its 15th anniversary on July 25 from 1 to 3 p.m. at 501 Hoch Road. Enjoy music by The Amigos. Kauffman’s BBQ Chicken will be available to help raise money for the Northern Berks EMS. Meal tickets are $15 each and include a half-chicken, potato, roll with butter, apple sauce and a drink. Free concert
A free outdoor concert by Days Of Old is scheduled Aug. 1 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the grove at St. Peter’s UCC of Molltown, 219 Maidencreek Road, Fleetwood. Food available for purchase, beginning at noon. More information, 610-944-9418. Concert moves indoors if inclement weather.
Yoga in the park
Free yoga in the park is held every Sunday through September at Gring’s Mill Recreation Area, 2083 Tulpehocken Road, Spring Township. All are welcome from beginner to advanced students. Rain cancels.
