READING, Pa. – A 31-year-old Reading man is being accused of sexually abusing a child.
The Berks County district attorney’s office said in a news release that Michael Sanchez of Reading was charged with aggravated indecent assault, corruption of a minor, endangering the welfare of a child, and indecent assault on Thursday, July 16.
The following day, the defendant appeared at the Berks County Courthouse and surrendered to members of the Berks County Sheriff’s Department.
An arrest warrant was issued for Sanchez, and he was committed to the Berks County Jail on $100,000 bail, according to attorneys.
The incident allegedly occurred in January 2026 when the Berks County District Attorney’s Detectives received multiple reports that a 13-year-old female was the victim of suspected sexual abuse, said the DA’s office.
In February 2026, a forensic interview was conducted with the 13-year-old victim at the Berks County Children’s Alliance Center in Reading.
At that time, the juvenile told authorities that Sanchez had sexually abused her, according to the release.
Additionally, the girl disclosed that Sanchez had shown her sexually explicit videos and anime, according to attorneys.
The investigation determined that the alleged sexual abuse occurred at a residence located in the 000 block of South 2nd Street in Reading, the DA’s office said.
