The cause of death for a 39-year-old Scranton man — who died Friday from a single gunshot wound to the abdomen — was ruled a homicide, Lackawanna County Coroner Tim Rowland said Monday.

Following the shooting, which Scranton Police Chief Thomas Carroll said occurred at 313 N. Hyde Park Ave. in the city, emergency medical personnel transported Clinton Thornton-Hill to the emergency department at Geisinger Community Medical Center after he was found unconscious.

Thornton-Hill died around 8:30 p.m. Friday, Rowland said.

Scranton police and the Lackawanna County district attorney’s office are investigating the case. No further information has been made available yet.
