The Norfolk City Council voted, on the second of three required readings, to annex a tract of land about a quarter mile west of the intersection of East Benjamin Avenue and Highway 35 on the south side of Benjamin.
The item had passed on first reading at the July 6 council meeting. City Engineer Steve Rames said the property is being developed as Hawks Crossing.
“The water, sewer, paving infrastructure is complete and in place. As a function of the annexation, we would go ahead and accept that infrastructure as city infrastructure,” Rames said.
The council voted 6-0 for the annexation. Councilmen Jeff Jensen and Justin Webb were absent.
