Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti’s campaign for Congress in Pennsylvania’s 8th District is rolling out a wave of major new union endorsements as she continues to build a groundswell of support from labor. Cognetti earned four new endorsements in just the past week: From the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA), the United Steelworkers (USW), and the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers (SMART).
Cognetti now counts 11 labor unions as endorsers of her campaign to unseat Congressman Rob Bresnahan.
“I’m honored to have the support of workers across northeastern Pennsylvania. These are the men and women who built our community and keep it running – the tradesmen, steelworkers, nurses, teachers,
plumbers, child care providers, sanitation workers and countless others who perform critical duties across our region,” said Cognetti. “As mayor of Scranton, I’ve stood with our workers, increasing wages, cutting red tape, and standing up to special interests. As the only candidate in this race who supports the PRO Act, I will continue delivering for our workers in Congress by protecting and expanding the right to organize, fighting for better wages and benefits, and always prioritizing Pennsylvania workers over profit.”
