SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – The Sioux City City Council moved forward Monday with an amended ordinance governing the use of utility vehicles within city limits, approving two changes to the version passed on July 6.
Two amendments adopted
The first amendment replaced the initial proposed ordinance with an alternate version drafted by city staff, incorporating public input gathered during the first reading.
The second amendment modified the area where UTVs would be permitted. Council members Bertrand, Berenstein and Schoenherr voted in favor of allowing UTVs in the downtown area. Mayor Bob Scott and Council Member Ike Rayford voted against that amendment.
What comes next
The council will hold a third reading of the ordinance, as amended, at its next meeting on July 27. If the ordinance passes that reading, it will become law.
