St. Joseph’s Center Summer Festival

The St. Joseph’s Center Summer Festival takes place this weekend at Marywood University in Scranton. The event is open Friday and Saturday from 4-10 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 7 p.m. at 2300 Adams Avenue. Rockin’ the River

The Rockin’ the River summer concert series in Wilkes-Barre continues Friday with Hotter Than July: A Stevie Wonder Tribute. Bret Alexander & Friends will open the show at 6 p.m. Gates open at Millennium Circle, 92 N. River St., an hour beforehand, and music will play until 9. The all-ages event is free. Rockin’ the Mountain

The Rockin’ the Mountain summer concert series in Hazleton continues Saturday with A Proud Monkey, a Dave Matthews band tribute, and Pink Lloyd, a Pink Floyd tribute. Triple Fret will open the show at 4 p.m. Gates open at City View Park, 700 S. Poplar St., an hour beforehand. Stay after the music for fireworks at 9:45. The all-ages event is free. Swoyersville Chicken Wing Fling

The fourth Swoyersville Chicken Wing Fling is Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Roosevelt Field. The event includes wings and other food, as well as sauce and craft vendors, a beer garden by Susquehanna Brewing Company and live music both days. The Hot Wing Hustle 5K is Sunday morning. Pioneer Day

Pioneer Tunnel Coal Mine and Steam Train in Ashland will host its annual Pioneer Day celebration Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1900 Oak St. The daylong event, celebrating Pennsylvania’s Anthracite Coal Region and America’s 250th anniversary, will feature guided underground coal mine tours, steam train rides, antique mining displays, food, children’s activities, live music and blacksmith demonstrations.
