Kathryn Florence (Sapiego) Swierczewski died peacefully on Sunday, July
19th, 2026 with her loving family by her side.
Born in Reading, PA on December 29, 1935, she was the daughter of the
late Martin A and Irene S (Blazejewski) Sapiego. She was preceded in
death by her husband Edward J Swierczewski (2015) and her sister
Barbara (Sapiego) Bucciaglia (2021).
Kathryn is survived by her daughter, Dr. Barbara S Snyder, wife of Thomas
Snyder, of Marlton, NJ; her son, Dr. Mark E Swierczewski, husband of
Sharon A. Swierczewski, Lower Heidelberg Township with whom she
resided for the last 5 years; and 3 grandchildren, Tamara C Snyder, Edward
A (Eddie) Swierczewski and Christian M (CC) Swierczewski.
She was a 1953 graduate of Central Catholic High School, Reading, PA
where she met her future husband Edward. They were married in 1960 and
resided in Berks County their entire lives.
Kathryn, also known as “Kay” and “Mom-Mom”, was the consummate
homemaker and mother. She took pride in babysitting her 3 grandchildren.
She was a natural caregiver, and loved by all who came in contact with her.
She enjoyed sewing and cooking; her crabcake recipe along with her “top
secret” cheesecake recipe were enjoyed by generations of her family and
friends.
Kay was a die-hard Duke University basketball fan (Coach K was her
favorite) and a huge fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. She loved watching all
sports on television, and was always present when her grandchildren were
participating.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ignatius of
Loyola RC Church on Saturday, July 25th 2026 at 10 am. A visitation will be
held in the Church from 9:00 am until time of Mass. Stitzel Family Funeral
