Music, dancing, and lighthouse preservation will come together this summer as Lake Erie Lights hosts its annual fundraiser, Motown Night at the Light, on August 1, at the historic Presque Isle Lighthouse.
The event, scheduled from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., serves as Lake Erie Lights’ signature summer fundraiser, supporting the nonprofit organization’s ongoing preservation, restoration, and educational outreach efforts throughout the Erie community.
This year’s theme celebrates the iconic sounds of Motown, with guests encouraged to dress up and dance to favorite hits from the 1960s and 1970s.
Entertainment will be provided by local band The Groove, while attendees will also enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres from Cali’s West, desserts from Smiley’s Ice Cream Truck, complimentary drink tickets, a Pick-a-Duck raffle, and both art and experience auctions.
Funds raised during the event will be directed toward preservation efforts at the Erie Harbor Pierhead Light, which became part of the Presque Isle Light Station family in 2025. According to Lake Erie Lights, approximately $500,000 is needed to fully rehabilitate the historic black-and-white channel marker and ensure the beacon remains operational for future generations.
The fundraiser’s presenting sponsor is the Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority, with additional support from Creative Imprint Systems, Lighthouse Spirits, James E. Barr, Inc. Accounting and Tax Service, Allegheny Beverage, Tom and Janice Showler, Becky Weiser, Carol Hymiak and Marc Bryant, and Wendy Miller.
Tickets are available now and cost $75 for members and $95 for non-members. Additional supporter-level ticket options are available for individuals who wish to contribute further to lighthouse preservation efforts. The event is open to guests age 21 and older and will be held rain or shine.
