Woman arrested at Pittsburgh airport after allegedly threatening taxi driver with knife
Police at Pittsburgh International Airport have charged a woman who allegedly held a knife to her taxi driver’s neck while her 8-year-old daughter was in the back seat.
Mya Owens was arrested Monday at the departures drop-off area. The taxi driver flagged down an officer and reported the incident just as Owens entered the terminal.
Court documents state the incident began when the driver picked up Owens at a downtown Pittsburgh hotel. Owens reportedly told her daughter to lie down in the back seat.
As they approached the airport, Owens allegedly slid up to the driver’s seat, held a large kitchen knife to his neck, and told him to speed up or she would stab him.
Investigators said a camera in the back of the cab matched the driver’s account.
Owens is charged with kidnapping, terroristic threats, and corruption of minors.
