ALLENTOWN, Pa. – 78 varsity teams are preparing for a basketball bash at the Cedar Beach Park courts when the A-Town Throwdown tips off on Thursday.
62 boys and 16 men’s teams will be competing for some offseason bragging rights. The tournament runs through Sunday.
“You know teams just love the ability to play, coaches in the summer time, they don’t want to play the same teams they play all winter long,” William Allen High School athletic director Randy Atiyeh said. “So it gives them an opportunity to come down, play some other schools, and I think that’s what they love about it.”
Contestants include teams from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and even Florida.
