$10M from Pennsylvania budget helping those impacted by April’s deep freeze

(WHTM) — The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank needs help replenishing its supplies.

A big part of their severe produce shortage is the deep freeze in April that destroyed local crops. On top of that, the federal government cut monthly payments to the food bank of $170,000 a month that were allocated for fresh food

“We’re standing here and they’re beautiful trees, but it’s hard to spot an apple in this orchard,” Pennsylvania’s Secretary of Agriculture Russell Redding said. “We now have the set of worries about how do you make a payroll.”
