A white light in the night sky drew a lot of attention across South-Central Pennsylvania Tuesday evening. The light, which some WGAL viewers described as “swirling,” was most likely a rocket that launched in South America. You can see video of it in the player above. The rocket was probably the European Space Agency’s Ariane 6 heavy lift rocket which took off at 4:02 p.m. local time from the Europe’s Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana.According to the European Space Agency’s website, the rocket carried and deployed a satellite called the Sentinel-1D which will provide radar vision for the agency. The agency’s website says the satellite will provide imagery for disaster response teams, environmental agencies, climate scientists and others.
