Erie Gives Day is set to return for its 16th year, giving community members an opportunity to support hundreds of local nonprofits through a 14-hour online fundraising campaign.
The Erie Community Foundation hosted an event Thursday morning to share details about this year’s initiative, which will benefit more than 500 nonprofit organizations across the region.
A major feature of Erie Gives Day is the availability of $637,000 in bonus funds, which help offset transaction and processing costs associated with online donations. Any remaining bonus money will be distributed among participating nonprofits, providing additional support beyond individual contributions.
Since the event began, the Erie Community Foundation says Erie Gives donors have helped distribute more than $77 million to local nonprofit organizations, strengthening a wide range of community programs and services.
This year’s Erie Gives Day will take place on August 11, beginning at 11:30 a.m. and continuing through 1:30 a.m. Wednesday. Donations can be made online throughout the event, allowing supporters to contribute to causes that make a difference throughout Erie County.
