A 27-year-old Erie man is facing animal cruelty charges after state police say he repeatedly stabbed his dog and sprayed the animal in the eyes with an aerosol product while it was confined inside a cage.
According to a Pennsylvania State Police public information release, troopers from the Erie Patrol Unit responded to a residence at 8784 Perry Highway in Summit Township shortly after 11 p.m. on June 3. The investigation continued into the early morning hours of June 4.
Police allege that Christopher Randall Jr., 27, of Erie, sprayed Febreze into his dog’s eyes and then stabbed the animal multiple times while the dog was secured inside its cage.
Charges of Cruelty to Animals were approved by the Erie County District Attorney’s Office and filed through Magisterial District Judge McGowan.
According to the ANNA Shelter the dog now named Rocco had been surrendered to their care, has made a full recovery, and was adopted on June 11.
