Incumbent school directors across Lackawanna County have taken early leads in contested races, according to unofficial election results.

Carbondale Area

In Region 3, Director Peter Turonis, a Democrat, leads with 475 votes and Republican challenger Jeffrey Magistro has 289 votes for a single seat with a four-year term.

Dunmore

In the race for four seats, each with a four-year term, Chris Murray Sr. leads with 3,196 votes, followed by Joe “Luch” Luciano with 2,921 votes, incumbent board Treasurer Heidi McDonough with 2,709 votes and Amy Haun with 2,444 votes. They are ahead of Corey Pregmon, who has 1,262 votes and Deanna Leo, who has 1,041 votes. Murray and Luciano cross-filed; McDonough and Haun ran as Democrats, and Leo and Pregmon as Republicans.

Lackawanna Trail

In Region 2, Republican Susanne Green has taken the lead with 538 votes in Lackawanna and Wyoming counties. Incumbent Director Adrian Bianchi has 459 votes in Lackawanna and Wyoming counties in the race for the single seat with a four-year term representing Benton Twp. in Lackawanna County and Factoryville in Wyoming County.

North Pocono

In Region 2, Director Elizabeth Walsh, a Democrat, leads with 1,084 votes. Republican Ashley Messoline has 945 votes in the contest for a single seat that carries a four-year term.

Old Forge

In the race for four seats, each with four-year terms, Megan Sallavanti-DiBileo leads with 1,966 votes, followed by incumbent Directors Alisha Marmo Hudak with 1,627 votes, Laura Zajaczkowski-Shumlas with 1,594 votes, and board Assistant Secretary Jenna Derenick, who has 1,423 votes. They are ahead of Michael Zupon, who has 1,098 votes. Sallavanti-DiBileo, Hudak and Derenick cross-filed, while Zajaczkowski-Shumlas ran as a Democrat and Zupon as a Republican.

Riverside

In the contest for four seats, each with a four-year term, board Secretary Barbara Fedor leads with 2,011 votes, followed by Mary Burke, who has 2,076 votes, board President Carol Kaminski Armstrong with 1,863 votes and Marion Maurer, who has 1,777 votes. They are ahead of Ronald A. Gallagher, who has 1,269 votes. Armstrong, Fedor and Burke cross-filed as Democrats and Republicans, while Maurer ran as a Democrat and Gallagher a Republican.

Valley View

In Region 1, incumbent Director Joseph A. Farrell is ahead with 1,498 votes, followed by Director Tom Owen, who has 1,414 votes, both of whom cross-filed, ahead of independent Julie Budd-Kulenich, who has 1,275 votes. In Region 2, Democrat Jim Rodway leads with 1,200 votes, followed by incumbent board Vice President Joseph F. Mondak, a Republican, who has 1,078 votes. Each seat has a four-year term.
