In the race for Northampton County Council, 10 candidates were vying for five open spots.
The five Democratic candidates, including one incumbent, held the edge over the five Republican candidates.
Democrat Lori Vargo Heffner is the current council president.
Republican incumbents John Goffredo and John Brown were also running for reelection.
Two other Democrats currently on the board — Jeffrey Corpora and Ronald Heckman — are not running for reelection.
Right now, the Democrats hold a 6-3 majority on the board. With the unofficial results in, the Democrats will have upped their majority to 8-1.
