The Presque Isle Yacht Club is celebrating community tonight, hosting its annual Christmas in July Pig Roast.
A yearly tradition meant to bring members of every generation together on the docks.
Members gathered along the waterfront for the pig roast, where the club sponsored a full spread of food.
Families and longtime boaters sat together at picnic tables, connecting with one another.
The band Theory of Evolution began warming up for its 7 p.m. set.
Organizers say the night is designed to strengthen relationships, giving every member, new or seasoned, a chance to slow down and connect.
“Some of these people have been members for—God—we started in 1944, and we still have some of those members here. So, you know, it’s just bringing people together,” Rich Doyle, commodore of the Presque Isle Yacht Club, explained.
“Just look at the smiles. Listen to the laughter and the fun that everyone has when they get together. More than once a year, but Christmas in July is a special, special time,” Darryl Rogers, fleet captain of the Presque Isle Yacht Club, said.
