HAMBURG, Pa. — The Salvation Army is celebrating a milestone in Berks County.

The organization’s Hamburg family thrift store and service center celebrated it’s 10th anniversary on Saturday.

The celebration included food, games and entertainment.

Salvation Army officials note that sales at the thrift store benefit a wide range of crucial services to those in need — including many people may not be aware of.

“We have our Camp Ladore, we have our service centers that provide all the emergency services, we have our disaster services, so there’s a whole array of services that the Salvation Army provides,” said Michael Cipilewski, director of Salvation Army service extension department.

In just the last year, the Hamburg service center has helped more than 2,000 people.
