Carbondalien Festival
The second annual Carbondalien Festival, a celebration of a mysterious glowing light in 1974, is Friday and Saturday. It kicks off Friday with a parade at 6 p.m., traveling Main Street from PNC Bank to the YMCA. It is followed by a concert at 8 at the Anthracite Hotel. Saturday is a full day celebrating UFO culture, including an appearance by Star Wars stormtroopers, tethered hot-air-balloon rides and an immersive theater experience at the site of the alleged UFO crash. Creature Feature Weekend
Creature Feature Weekend, a three-day horror convention at the Hilton Scranton and Conference Center, begins Friday. The family-friendly horror celebration features celebrity guests, movies, in-costume photo ops, tattoos and more than 70 vendors. General admission tickets range from $20 to $60. Holiday craft festival
A holiday craft festival Saturday at the Butler Twp. Community Center in Drums will feature over 40 artisans and vendors. Hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Offerings will include cookies, candy, lasered wood, crocheted works, fabric crafts, quilts, soaps, candles, Scentsy, Color Street and Tupperware. The event at 411 W. Butler Drive, Drums, will benefit the Valley Food Pantry.
Rhythm and Brews
For an afternoon of rock ‘n’ roll and craft beer, check out Rhythm and Brews on Saturday at Montage Mountain. The event from 1-7 p.m. features Ozzy Osbourne tribute act Saints of Sabbath, as well as Frontiers, a tribute to Journey, and Jagged Little Thrill, an Alanis Morissette tribute act. Samples of craft brews, seltzers and ciders are included. General admission costs $39 in advance or $55 at the door. All-access admission includes early entry at noon. Guitars & Stars
The Froggy 101 Guitars & Stars, an up-close showcase of rising county music talent, is Tuesday at the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts, Wilkes-Barre. The acts at the acoustic show include George Birge, LANCO, Kameron Marlowe, Greylan James, Redferrin and Randall King. Tickets start at $35 plus fees.
