Inspectors are investigating a fire that destroyed a home in the Simpson area of Fell Twp. early Saturday.
Firefighters found the two-story residence on Shannon Street engulfed in flames when they arrived at 1:30 a.m., Fire Chief Peter Saltisiak said.
They originally believed the property was vacant, but later Saltisiak said the department had received conflicting reports from neighbors and the property owner.
Carbondale, Forest City, Whites Crossing, Browndale and Mayfield fire departments also responded.
Firefighters remained at the scene until 6 a.m.
A state police fire marshal is investigating.
