State and federal environmental officials have been examining more local properties this weekend after the discovery of radioactive pollution at 120 homes in Niagara County this month.
The Environmental Protection Agency and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation say their crews visited almost 350 properties Saturday, seeking consent to screen those areas, as a larger radiological assessment continues in Niagara and Erie counties.
The agencies detailed the work underway in a joint update Sunday.
They say crews reached more than 110 new access agreements Saturday, and screened about 40 private properties on Saturday alone.
The discovery earlier this month led officials to host a wider community meeting last week, and the agency has already offered temporary relocation to some people living in the area.
