MUHLENBERG TOWNSHIP, Pa. — It was old school and new school Saturday in Berks County.
The organization “The Forge” hosted its 3rd annual father – son basketball tournament at Jim Dietrich Park in Muhlenberg Township.
Executive Director Ebony McNeil says it’s a way to help promote a positive, healthy image of fatherhood and masculinity.
“A lot of people say fathers aren’t spending time with their kids, so we developed this tournament every year, so there’s a visual showing 50 grown men spending time with 50 youth in the community. It’s an amazing thing. It’s father and son bonding time. Actually father and child, because we have a few teams with girls on them too,” said Ebony McNeil, executive director of the Forge.
And McNeil says they’ve even had a father-daughter duo win the tournament in the past.
