Order in Lower Merion linked to work on a school

LOWER MERION—Lower Merion officials say they know what was causing a sulfur-like smell in Bala Cynwyd.

According to Lower Merion officials, the township and PECO have recently been inundated with calls regarding a sulfur-like odor in the neighborhoods near Cynwyd Elementary School.

“The smell has been investigated by PECO representatives and is apparently attributable to the roofing work being done at Cynwyd Elementary School,” Lower Merion officials wrote in a township statement.

According to township officials, the project is using roofing tar that has a sulfur odor. The work is expected to be completed over the next week.
