BETHLEHEM, Pa.- Pennsylvania State Police announced that Driving Under the Influence roving patrols will be conducted in Northampton and Lehigh Counties for two weeks.
Patrols will be in Northampton County from July 31 to Aug. 2 and in Lehigh County from Aug. 7 to Aug. 9, officials said in a news release.
Pennsylvania State Police said the enforcement’s purpose is to reduce the number of alcohol- and drug-related crashes and the number of DUI drivers.
Motorists are reminded to follow the Paul Miller law, which prohibits the use of hand-held devices while driving, according to the report.
Drivers convicted of using a hand-held device while driving will receive a $50 fine, court costs, and other fees, according to the release.
Police reminded motorists that any driver who intentionally fails or refuses to bring their vehicle to a stop or attempt to flee an officer could have a maximum sentence of 7 years in prison, a $15,000 fine and pay for any damages and injuries.
