INDIANA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — One person is behind bars after allegedly opening fire at Pennsylvania State Police who were responding to a disturbance.

Robert John Richard II, 60, of Clarksburg, was charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, assault of a law enforcement officer and lesser related charges Sunday, July 26.

According to state police, Troopers were responding to a disturbance on Valley Road in Young Township, Indiana County, at around 11:45 a.m. It was alleged that Richard was pointing an automatic rifle in the direction of the victim’s residence while they were inside with their fiancé.

When arriving, troopers said they saw Richard outside of the victim’s home with a long gun when he allegedly opened fire directly at the troopers. Fire was immediately returned, with a bullet striking Richard in the shoulder. He was arrested and taken to Forbes Hospital for treatment.

Richard was arraigned the same day, and bail was denied. He’s currently in Indiana County Prison to await his next steps.
