Free motorcycle safety training offered in Pennsylvania as crash numbers decline
Pennsylvania officials are encouraging motorcyclists to participate in free safety training programs provided through the Pennsylvania Motorcycle Safety Program.
Last year, there were more than 2,900 motorcycle crashes in the state, resulting in 186 fatalities. PennDOT reports that these numbers are decreasing.
“Of course, one crash or death is too many. We are always striving toward zero deaths on our roadways for motorcyclists and all motorists,” PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll said.
PennDOT has contracts with training centers to offer safety classes free of charge. Additionally, many insurers provide discounts to motorcyclists who complete safety courses.
