SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The City of Scranton is experiencing another big water main break in a month.
28/22 News is on the scene in front of Scranton’s Courthouse Square, where streets are flooding and sidewalks are buckling.
Lackawanna County officials say the break in front of the Federal Courthouse is affecting the following Center City buildings:
PenFed/Health and Human Services Building
The buildings are closed due to no water.
The water company has isolated the break, and buildings should open back up for a portion of downtown Scranton, outside of the immediate blocks surrounding North Washington Avenue, Scranton Fire Chief Judge told 28/22 News.
Pennsylvania American Water issues a boil water advisory for customers in the following areas of Scranton:
100-400 blocks of Mifflin Avenue
100-400 blocks of Franklin Avenue
100-500 blocks of Penn Avenue
500-700 blocks of Capouse Avenue
100-900 blocks of Wyoming Avenue
100-900 blocks of North Washington Avenue
100-900 blocks of Adams Avenue
100-900 blocks of Jefferson Avenue
100-900 blocks of Madison Avenue
100-900 blocks of Monroe Avenue
300-800 blocks of Gibson Avenue
400-800 blocks of Pine Street
100-800 blocks of Olive Street
200-800 blocks of Vine Street
100-800 blocks of Mulberry Street
100-800 blocks of Linden Street
100-600 blocks of Biden Street
100-600 blocks of Lackawanna Avenue
100-500 blocks of Center Street

Contractors are supplying water tankers at the following locations:
Intersection of Biden and Wyoming streets
Intersection of Linden Street and North Washington Avenue
Tankers should be on-site by 2:00 p.m. Customers should bring their own containers when visiting a tanker for drinking water.
The cause of the water main break is unclear at this time.
