PALMER TWP., Pa. – One dad in Northampton County is taking a new spin on free little libraries.
Instead of books, he’s created a way for people to trade collectible toy cars.
Posted along Stones Crossing Road in Palmer Township stands a box full of collectible toy cars, planes and busses.
“We have new ones, old ones some from the 60’s and 70’s in there,” says Kevin Kroll, Founder of Stones Crossing Matchbox Exchange.
It all started with Kevin Kroll and his son and their shared love of matchbox.
“No matter what age, no matter what your background is, you had matchbox you grew up with them, your parents had them,” says Kroll.
And so came the stones crossing matchbox exchange.
“Take one leave one,” says Kroll.
Word about the exchange got around quickly through the neighborhood with people stopping by at all hours, some even donating their own collections.
“Now I was off at work, and he stopped at the camera and says, ‘I’m gonna leave your cars there,’ and all I heard was thump and thump, and there’s a very large tote… It was probably close to 150, 200 pounds,” says Kroll.
Kroll has taken the swap to social media sharing the reactions of people stopping by.
And the smiles on people’s faces, say it all.
“The whole thought is to just have fun, that’s why the box says it. It’s just to have fun,” says Kroll.
