Erie City Hall is now officially on the National Register of Historic Places.
This kind of federal recognition can open a lot of doors for the city, including access to more grants.

Erie City Hall was originally built in the mid-1960s, and the city has maintained many of its original features.
“Preservation is a way of looking at change and talking about what’s important and what we want to give to the next generation. what stories we want to pass on and we feel especially at city hall, you know, we’re continuing to pass on a story that was given to us and so the next generation has access to the exact same history and the same spaces that we do,” said Matthew Falcone, the city’s cultural resource manager.
The city is still awaiting their golden plaque, which they plan to hang outside to proudly show off this new status
