The Erie Philharmonic’s beloved summer brass concert series returned this week, offering audiences across the region a chance to enjoy free live music in some of the area’s favorite outdoor community spaces.
Led by Principal Tuba and Brass Ensemble Director Ken Heinlein, the Erie Philharmonic Brass Ensemble will present an all-American musical journey featuring patriotic favorites, Sousa marches, symphonic brass masterpieces, Henry Mancini classics and a stirring Armed Forces Salute. The program celebrates the sounds of summer and showcases music that has become part of America’s cultural soundtrack.
The annual performances have become a cherished tradition for families and music lovers, with selections designed to appeal to audiences of all ages. In addition to the concerts, several locations will feature community activities, local performers, vendors and family-friendly entertainment.
The series began Monday at Pleasant Ridge Park with local singer-songwriter Sam Hyman followed by the Erie Philharmonic Brass Ensemble.

Guests are encouraged to arrive early for evening performances to take part in pre-concert activities, including local opening acts, instrument petting zoos, field games and other family-friendly attractions.
In the event of inclement weather, venue changes for any of the performances will be announced by mid-afternoon on the Erie Philharmonic website and through the Erie Philharmonic’s social media channels.
