A logistics company is facing a potential strike by 143 workers in Upper Macungie Township.
Americold Logistics, which specializes in cold storage transport for the food industry, is in negotiations with United Auto Workers Local 667 for union employees at 7150 Ambassador Drive along with 651 Mill Road and 6985 Snowdrift Road.
The contract runs out at midnight July 31. Union workers at Americold have authorized a strike that could come as soon as the next day. Issues include issues such as paid time off and health benefits.
“The parties are currently engaged in active negotiations and continue to work toward reaching a fair agreement,” UAW Regional Director Jim Lakeman said. “On July 25, 2026, Local 677 members conducted a strike authorization vote, which received 100% support from the membership, demonstrating their unity and commitment to securing a strong contract.
“While negotiations remain ongoing and the union is hopeful that a tentative agreement can be reached before the contract expiration date, members stand prepared to take appropriate action after July 31, 2026, should an agreement not be reached,” Lakeman said.
Representatives from Atlanta-based Americold were not available for comment.
On Americold’s website, the company said it recently completed expanding its Lehigh Valley facility, adding 327,000 square feet with advanced cooling capabilities and 37,000 pallet positions.
