SCRANTON — An Allegheny County man assaulted his girlfriend and threatened to kill her Friday during a domestic dispute, police said.
Kelly Roberts told police she returned from work to find Christopher Paneto intoxicated. They argued, and Paneto said, “I’m going to kill you,” Roberts told police. Paneto pulled Roberts’ hair, got on top of her while she was sitting on a bed and slapped her face, police said.
Officers responded at about 4 p.m. to an incident involving an intoxicated man in the 300 block of 13th Avenue. They spoke with Paneto, who appeared to be intoxicated and whose speech was slurred.
Paneto denied hitting Roberts and told police he would never raise his hand to a woman.
The 27-year-old man is charged with assault and harassment and remains at Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. on Aug. 4 before District Judge Paul Keeler.
