An investigation is underway, officials said, after a delivery driver was shot in Northern Liberties overnight.
According to police, the incident happened at about 1 a.m. near the intersection of 6th and Spring Garden streets when a delivery driver was shot in the hand.
In a morning update, police said the shooting erupted after the 31-year-old man, who was delivering food, became involved in an argument with a woman and teen girl at that location.
During this altercation, officials said, the driver was struck in the back of his head by an unknown object and he ran back to his vehicle.
When he turned to look back toward the initial location of the altercation, police said, the victim saw a man holding a firearm and shooting in his direction.
He was struck once in his left hand as he returned to his vehicle.
This victim, police said, was taken to the hospital following the shooting, where he was listed in stable condition.
At the scene, a car that had been hit several times by gunfire — including through the driver’s side window — could be seen as officers investigated this incident.
Following the shooting, officials said, a man and woman were taken into custody and charges were pending.
An investigation, officials said, remains ongoing.
Police are asking anyone who may have information about this incident to contact the Philadelphia Police Department’s tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
