Scranton-based writer and director Simone Daniel will take over as the new artistic director of the Scranton Shakespeare Festival, as founder Michael Bradshaw Flynn takes a three-year sabbatical to pursue other projects.
Daniel has experience with the Scranton Shakespeare Festival. She is also a frequent collaborator of the Scranton Fringe Festival, where she serves as youth theater director in its partnership with the Youth Arts Coalition to provide free after-school arts education. She is a founding member of the New Vintage Ensemble.
Her works have premiered in several cities, including the Edinburgh Fringe.
Bradshaw Flynn will remain an executive producer with the festival that he founded in 2011 at age 23. It has presented 65 productions so far. He is a Scranton native based in New York City.
