COOPERSBURG, Pa. – An area that’s prone to flooding, Route 309 in Lehigh County saw the impact of Tuesday’s storms.
Intense flash flooding shut down part of the roadway, and a local business was also forced to close.
Cars and tractor-trailers tried to carefully make their way through the water on Route 309, but some vehicles backed up and turned around to avoid flooding in some spots.
The Inside Scoop ice cream shop in Coopersburg also saw its share of water woes.
“Usually, we have to, like, put the sandbags out when it rains really hard, but nothing usually happens. Usually, it’s just precautionary, but this is like the worst that I’ve seen it,” said Rocco Corradini, an employee at The Inside Scoop.
Employees were working to clean up water that made its way into the shop, prompting it to close early.
The Inside Scoop said it would let customers know on its social media when the store is able to reopen.
