The Philadelphia Police Department’s bomb squad was involved in an investigation overnight after, officials said, an unknown device was thrown into a home in the Feltonville section of North Philly.
According to police, the investigation began after someone threw an unknown device into the window of a rowhome along the 400 block of West Courtland Street at about 2 a.m. early Thursday.
The object — which police did not immediately provide additional details on — was thrown into a window of a rowhome before, police said, an occupant inside the property tossed the device back out of the window and onto the sidewalk outside.
At the scene, investigators could be seen examining a box on the ground as police taped off the area.
Officials said the object was being investigated as a “suspected explosive device,” but they did not say exactly what the device may have been.
Though, police did not evacuate the block and the object was removed from the scene by the police bomb squad.
Officials also did not immediately announce any suspects or arrests in this incident.
But, an investigation into this incident is still ongoing.
