READING, Pa. – Employees from Reading Hospital are pitching in to help the local food bank at a crucial time.
The employees helped pack what are known as “senior food boxes” at Helping Harvest Food Bank in Spring Township.
The boxes are distributed monthly to more than 21-hundred seniors.
The employees are in the middle of three straight days of volunteering with Helping Harvest, as the hospital has a program that lets employees volunteer during the workday.
Officials say there is a huge boost right now as donations and volunteering tend to slow down in the summer.
