YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A central Pennsylvania veterinarian took to social media Thursday, warning the community about a rabid kitten.
A confirmed case of rabies was detected down the road from Paws Animal Hospital, located at 1263 Hoff Road in Hanover, the vet wrote in a Facebook post.
It also posted a Pennsylvania Department of Health flier urging those who have bitten or been exposed to the saliva from the cat to reach out to the Adams County State Health Center. You can only be exposed if saliva or central nervous system tissue enters a fresh, open wound or makes contact with the mucous membrane.
Pet owners also should contact their local vet for advice if their pet was injured by the rabid kitten.
