DETROIT. (News 10) – The Detroit Tigers have completed a trade sending catcher Jake Rogers, who was recently designated for assignment, to the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for right-handed minor league pitcher Zane Barnhart, who played his college baseball at local Hillsdale College.
Barnhart, 24, was drafted by Baltimore in the 17th round of the 2023 draft after three seasons at Hillsdale College. At the time of the trade, Barnhart has pitched to a 4.05 ERA across 31 relief appearances at the AA level this year and will be assigned to the Tigers’ AA affiliate in Erie, PA.
Rogers, designated for assignment by Detroit on Tuesday, had been with the Tigers since 2019 and was the team’s primary catcher in 2023 and 2024 before being supplanted by Dillon Dingler.
