After a week filled with new experiences, learning opportunities, and teamwork, the Erie Police Athletic League (PAL) celebrated the achievements of its summer camp participants with a graduation ceremony Friday at the Highmark Events Center.
Students who took part in the Gannon University PAL Camp received certificates recognizing their completion of the program. Throughout the week, campers had the unique opportunity to learn firsthand about the lives and responsibilities of police officers from members of the Erie Police Department.
In addition to getting an inside look at law enforcement, students also worked alongside Gannon University Athletics, where they participated in a variety of sports and activities designed to promote teamwork, leadership, and confidence.
The camp provides young people with positive role models while creating meaningful connections between local law enforcement and the community.
Leaders with the Erie Police Athletic League expressed gratitude for the chance to mentor and encourage the next generation, helping students develop valuable life skills both on and off the field.
While the Gannon University PAL Camp marks the final PAL camp session of the summer, the organization’s work is far from over. Erie PAL leaders say they will continue serving local youth through a variety of extracurricular programs when the new school year begins at the end of August.
The graduation ceremony served as a fitting conclusion to a memorable week, highlighting the impact of community partnerships and the importance of investing in Erie’s youth.
