Pittsburgh: Rain returns tonight, Impact Day Sunday
Off and on heavy rain leads the weather impacts to end the weekend.

This weekend won’t be a washout but we are tracking periods of rain that will start tonight and continue Sunday. Tomorrow is an Impact Day for heavy rain that could lead to localized flooding issues. The set up will remain unsettled with a daily dose of showers and storms next week.
Clouds today, rain returns tonight
More clouds and higher humidity levels hang around today. Despite all of that stacked against us, western Pennsylvania remains dry. Highs will reach the low and mid 80s again.
Clouds and humidity return today followed by rain and an Impact Day to end the weekend.
Isolated showers arrive this evening followed by pockets of heavier rain overnight.
Impact Day Sunday: Heavy rain at times
Heavy rain and localized flooding lead Sunday’s storm impacts.
Most of the Pittsburgh area will wake up to some rain Sunday morning. (It may be a little earlier than you’d like.) The main concern for our Impact Day is the heavy rain potential. Repeated downpours through tomorrow morning could lead to localized flooding concerns. Rainfall totals currently look to be about an inch or less, but locations that see multiple rounds of heavy rain will have the potential to see over an inch of rain.
Off and on heavy rain are on track to roll through southwestern PA tomorrow morning.
We won’t have a lot of fuel for storms to form, but a few embedded thunderstorms will be possible Sunday afternoon. If we see a break in the rain for the middle of the day and sunshine, that could set the stage for a few stronger storms in the late afternoon and evening.
An inch or more of rain could fall through Monday. Localized flooding issues may develop.
Unsettled start to August
The set up will remain unsettled next week. A better coverage of showers and storms will arrive for the middle of next week. Temperatures, meanwhile, will be seasonal in the low to mid 80s.
