CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – The National Weather Service in Cleveland is warning people not to swim in Lake Erie from Sunday afternoon into Monday morning.
The weather service says hazardous swimming conditions are expected along Lake Erie from 2 p.m. this afternoon through Monday morning, with waves reaching 3 to 5 feet.
They expect all lakeshore counties – including Erie, Lorain, Cuyahoga, Lake, and Ashtabula – to be at high risk for these swimming conditions.
The weather service is discouraging swimmers from heading to the lake as rip currents will be possible.
They also advise swimmers to “stay dry when waves are high and avoid piers, breakwalls, and river outlets.”
