SCRANTON — Doug Smith’s Dixieland All-Stars will play Friday at the Christopher A. Doherty Park at Wyoming Avenue and Linden Street, the same day the Scranton Jazz Festival launches.
The free music begins with other local artists playing jazz from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Smith’s band will play from 6 to 8 p.m.
It is the first of the season’s Pocket Park Live events. The other announced events are a Scranton Fringe Festival preview on Sept. 4 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Scranton Fringe productions of the classic children’s book “The Wind in the Willows” on Oct. 2-3 at 6:30 p.m.
Pocket Park Live is a project of Scranton Tomorrow and the city’s Scranton Arts Committee.
