Maryanne “Mae” Palkovic, 95, of Erie, Pennsylvania, passed away on July 31, 2026. Born in Erie, she was the only daughter of the late John and Mary (Kollar) Palkovic.

A 1949 graduate of East High School, Mae began her career as a secretary at American Sterilizer and then worked at the Barber National Institute. She was also involved with the Slovak Catholic Sokol. In retirement, she remained active in the community and worked at Scully’s Pub with longtime friend and pub owner Tom.

Mae was a lifelong member of Holy Family Catholic Church until it closed. She was an active member of the church choir and a regular volunteer in the school’s cafeteria program.

She enjoyed swimming, going to the beach, attending events at the Erie Playhouse and Warner Theatre, and golfing with friends. She also liked to travel-highlights included visiting her parents’ birthplace in Slovakia with her brother Ed, visiting family in California, and exploring Ireland and Hawaii.

Most of all, Mae loved spending time with family, whether in person or on the phone. She had an open-door policy with her family, letting her living room be a hangout for her nieces and nephews and their friends, and offering out-of-town relatives a place to stay -truly the cool aunt.

She had a warmth and care that drew people in, made them feel valued, and supported their dreams and goals.

Mae will be deeply missed by her many cherished nieces and nephews, including special nephew Dan and nieces Monica and Candace, who grew up next door to her and remained deeply integrated in her life as adults.

In addition to her parents, Mae was preceded in death by her brothers: Frank, John, Edward, and William “Bill” and sisters-in-law: Dorothy, DeSales, and Phyllis. She is survived by sister-in-law, Delphine.

Relatives and friends are invited to St. Stanislaus Church, 516 East 13th Street, Erie, PA 16503 on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 9:00 AM to the time of her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM.
