BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — While longtime Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo won re-election in Tuesday’s general election to continue his over three decades of leadership, the Democratic party has now infiltrated this Republican stronghold township.

According to unofficial results, GOP Councilwoman Stacey Champion and Michelle Benitez lost their re-election bids as three Democratic newcomers will join the Bensalem Township Council.

With longtime Councilman Joseph Pilieri not seeking re-election, Democrats will now control the five-member board when it reorganizes in January.
