Gregory McNelis
OBITUARY
Gregory J. McNelis, 68, of Allentown, passed away on July 31, 2026 at home. He was the husband of Kathy A. (Buehler) McNelis. They were married for 46 years in April. Greg worked in retail at Office Depot in Allentown until retiring. Prior to that, he worked in furniture sales at JC Penny in Whitehall and worked at Sears in Whitehall for many years. Born in Indiana, PA, he was the son of the late James R. and Glenda J. (Kunkle) McNelis. He was a graduate of William Allen High School and Penn State University. Greg was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Allentown.
Greg enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and reading. He always looked forward to yearly family vacations to Ocean City, New Jersey where the family would spend the day on the beach and night on the boardwalk playing mini-golf. Greg was an avid sports fan, cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State athletics.
Survivors: Wife, Son: Matthew G. McNelis and his wife Katie of Phoenixville, PA, Granddaughters: Quinn and Evvie McNelis, Sister: Janice wife of Daniel Salyers of Mt. Laurel, NJ, Brother: Gerald McNelis and his wife Debra of Bethlehem, Nephews: John and Thomas Salyers and Nieces: Jessica wife of Greg Long and Lauren McNelis.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at 11 A.M. at the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, 16th and Hamilton Sts. Allentown. A calling hour will be held on Thursday, from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. in the funeral home. Condolences may be offered at: www.jsburkholder.com
