Pennsylvania native Chris Higbee brought his high-energy country sound to the Rebich Investments Amphitheater Tuesday night as the headliner for the fifth week of Erie Events’ 8 Great Tuesdays concert series.
Known for blending country, rock, bluegrass, and fiddle-driven performances, Higbee said his music draws inspiration from a wide range of artists and genres.
“My sound is electrifying,” Higbee said. “I do a lot of original music, write my own songs, a lot of fiddle, a lot of electric guitar.”
His influences range from Charlie Daniels and Van Halen to Kansas, Mozart, and Bach. Higbee said he also admires the songwriting of the Zac Brown Band, adding that growing up surrounded by music shaped the artist he is today.
“I grew up in music. I went to college for music,” Higbee said. “Jazz, rock, blues, bluegrass, country, man, I love it all.”
Recalling one of his first original songs, “Fiddles Rock,” Higbee shared the opening lyric: “Diane next door played the violin, she was hot, so I had to learn how to play.”
Although Higbee isn’t from Erie, he says the city has become one of the biggest supporters of his career.
“I’m not from Erie, but I love it here. I play up here all the time. The people are great,” Higbee said. “I get 1.5 million views on Facebook a month, and at least 13 percent, which is the biggest percentage, is from Erie, Pennsylvania.”
Higbee’s performance continued the popular summer concert series, drawing country music fans to the waterfront for another evening of live entertainment.
